Using this guide

The EDSAS User Guide has been developed to provide EDSAS users with on-line training and support for school management processes, procedures, EDSAS system tasks and screens.

The browser toolbar

The browser's toolbar at the top of the screen provides standard web browser navigation. If you are unfamiliar with the browser navigation buttons see Using the Browser buttons.

Using the user guide with EDSAS software

Switching between the User Guide and EDSAS can be achieved by clicking on the item you want on the Windows taskbar at the bottom of the screen, or by pressing Alt+TAB.

The navigation bar

The links on the left of the screen provide access to school management processes, procedures and other support. The processes link to procedures (prefixed PRO), which in turn link to EDSAS system tasks (prefixed SYS), which in turn link to EDSAS screens (prefixed SCR) and field level help. Wherever you see coloured and underlined text, this can be clicked to take you to further information. The cursor will also change to a hand symbol when placed over a link.

Searching
Use the search engine to quickly access information about a system task you would like to perform. This is particularly useful for experienced or expert EDSAS users who understand school processes and procedures, but would quickly like to access the system task required. Enter a word or a spaced word as your search criteria.

The banner

Click the EDSAS logo at the top right of the screen to return to the EDSAS User Guide Home Page. The DECS logo is linked to the DECS Learn SA site.

Screens

top
System screens (which have a prefix of SCR) display field level help and tell the user:

  • which fields are mandatory (ie. the field must be completed). Such fields are labelled (M) in the field description.
  • which fields have look-up items (ie. if you double click the field you can select from a range of items). Such fields are labelled >> in the field description.

Using the Browser buttons
