SYS Transferring students in

This system task is used to transfer student data into a school (at which they have recently been enrolled). Student transfers are generally handled on an individual basis. A transfer in is used when the transition in process does not apply.

  1. Click Student Module....
    The Student Module... menu displays.
  2. Click Transition Utilities....
    The Transition Utilities... menu displays.
  3. Click Transfer Students....
    The Transfer Students... menu displays.
  4. Click Transfer In.
    The Please insert disk into drive A message displays.
  5. Insert the data diskette into the A drive, and click OK.
  6. If a message displays indicating the source school (and requesting import confirmation), click Yes.
    The Transfer In screen displays. Go to step 8.
  7. If a message displays indicating that data has already been imported, do one of the following:
    • To import data from another school, click Yes and go to step 5.
    • To cancel the import process at this time, click No and go to step 10.
  8. For each student being imported, match (if necessary) their family and given names (from the disk) with the respective student ID (in EDSAS), and click Import data.
    Note:
    EDSAS will match records for you provided that the Family Name and Given Name fields are identical on the disk and the new school's record. If no match is shown, use Shift+F6 in the Student ID field and select the correct student.
    Use the record navigation buttons (ie. Prev, Next etc) to display each student (if more than one). Processed students will appear blank/grayed out.
    When importing, make a note of any error messages that may display to identify data that may need checking later.
  9. When importing is complete, click Cancel.
    The Transfer Students... menu displays.
  10. Click Main to return to the Main menu .
